Henry Cavill was born (on May 5, 1983) in Jersey, in the Channel Islands, a British Crown dependency. He is the fourth of five sons born to Marianne and Colin Cavill. His mother, Marianne, worked as a secretary in a bank, while his father, Colin, served in the Royal Marines and later worked as a stockbroker.

Cavill spent his early years on the island of Jersey and attended St. Michael’s Preparatory School before moving directly to Stowe School in Buckinghamshire, England. He was a boarder at both schools and has spoken about feeling like an outsider due to his mixed heritage – his mother is of English descent while his father is of Scottish and Irish descent.
