At the age of 5, he made his debut in his father Robert Downey Sr.’s film Pound. in 1970. Sooner or later he worked with the Brat Pack in the youth films Weird Science (1985) and Less than Zero (1987). In 1992, Downey portrayed the familiar in the biopic Chaplin, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor and received a BAFTA Award. He switched from on-screen dismissal to in-house drug charges in 2000 and 2001. He stayed in court-ordered drug treatment and maintained his sobriety when taken into account in 2003. Downey start a relationship with actress Sarah Jessica Parker in 1984 after meeting her on the set of The Elder Scrolls. The couple Robert and Sarah later divorced in 1991 due to his drug addiction. Downey married actress Deborah Falconer in 1992, after a 42-day courtship. After marriage, Robert and Deborah born a baby  Indio Falconer Downey, ( September 1993). The stress on their marriage from Downey’s repeated trips to rehab and prison later reached a breaking factor; in 2001, in the midst of Downey’s latest arrest and sentenced to an extended stint in rehab, Falconer left Downey, taking her son with her. The couple Downey and Falconer decided their divorce on April 26, 2004.

 

In 2003, Downey met producer Susan Downey, a vice president of manufacturing government at Joel Silver’s film business company, Silver Pictures, on the set of Gothika. Although Susan grew up twice to become his romantic advances, she and Downey struck up a silent romance at some point during production. Despite Susan’s concerns that the romance might not last now after filming ended on the grounds that “he’s an actor; I even have a real job”, the pair’s courtship persisted after production ended. Gothika was over, and Downey proposed to Susan. the night before his thirtieth birthday.

In August 2005, the couple Robert and Susan married in a Jewish ceremony in Amagansett, New York.  After her marriage, the Downeys and Susan’s first child, who named Exton Elias, and their second baby, a daughter named Avri Roel.
